When to use the Italic Text Generator
Italic Unicode is the subtler cousin of bold: it draws the eye without shouting, which makes it the usual choice for a tagline, a quoted line, or the name of a work inside a caption.
One difference from the bold generator matters in practice. The italic block covers letters only — there is no italic digit in Unicode. Numbers in your text pass through unchanged, so a phrase mixing words and figures will look inconsistent. If that bothers you, keep numbers out of the italicised part.
Note that Discord, Reddit, and Slack all support genuine Markdown italics with *asterisks*. Inside those apps, use the real formatting: it is searchable, screen-reader friendly, and renders identically everywhere. This generator is for the places where no formatting exists at all.
Frequently asked questions
Why do numbers stay upright in italic text?
Unicode never allocated italic digits. Only the 52 letters have italic forms, so any numbers in your text pass through in their ordinary shape.
Should I use this in Discord?
No. Discord supports real Markdown italics with single asterisks, which are searchable and accessible. Use this generator only where no formatting is available, such as an Instagram bio.
Is italic Unicode text the same as a font?
No. A font changes how a character is drawn. This swaps the character itself for a different one that happens to look slanted, which is why it survives copy-paste.
