When to use the Cursive Text Generator
Cursive is the most-requested aesthetic on Instagram and Pinterest, where it signals something personal or handmade. It works well for a name, a one-line tagline, or a signature at the end of a caption.
Two quirks are worth understanding, and they explain output that looks inconsistent:
- Eleven letters look different from the rest. When Unicode built the script alphabet it found that β¬, β°, β±, β, β, β, β³, β, β―, β, and β΄ had already been encoded years earlier as "letterlike symbols". Rather than duplicate them it left holes in the block. Those eleven letters come from the older set and are drawn in a slightly different style.
- There are no cursive digits. Numbers pass through unchanged.
Because the script alphabet was designed for mathematics, screen readers frequently announce these characters by name β "script small e" β rather than reading the word. Keep it to short decorative fragments.

Why do some cursive letters look different from the others?
Eleven letters, including H, E, and o, were already encoded as letterlike symbols before Unicode added the script alphabet. Those code points were left empty, so those letters come from the older set and are drawn slightly differently.
Can I use cursive text in my Instagram name?
You can, but your profile will become much harder to find. Instagram search matches literal characters, so nobody typing your name in ordinary letters will match it.
Does cursive text work with numbers?
No. Unicode does not include a cursive digit set, so any numbers you type pass through in their ordinary shape.
